01 / The concept

A street made for
everyday activity.

Railway Street runs through Al Manshiyah, the old quarter by AlUla’s Hejaz railway. The proposal turns a quiet stretch of it into a place to play and stay: two padel courts behind steel mesh, a bike hub and café around a shaded palm courtyard, and a restaurant and padel shop in a two-storey building that takes its earth-red plaster, carved screens and tower from the heritage houses along the street.

My role

All studies, design development, technical drawings and the BOQ (bills of quantities) for this project were prepared by Mohamed Bider for AMSY Group — from the street survey to the day and night visualisations.

03 / Site survey

The street today.

The August 2023 survey walked the whole street: wide asphalt, narrow pavements, empty plots, power lines and a few red-plastered heritage façades — and the cliffs at the end of every view.

04 / Design studies

Studies.

The plot and the street studied as a plan, a section across the road, the furniture kit and the sun. Select a study.
