SAFETY
HUB
مركز السلامة
An old block,
a safe new heart.
A tired three-storey building on Incense Road, the busiest walking street of AlJadidah, is turned into the district’s safety hub. The existing walls, stair and openings are kept; inside, the floors are planned as a sequence from the street — front desk, first aid and the security control centre at ground level, offices above, an admin floor at the top — and the bare roof becomes a shaded terrace for the team, under a timber pergola with white fabric shades and a lattice screen.
The survey of the existing building, the as-built drawings, the space planning of the three floors and the roof, the interior and facade design, the visualisations and the BOQ (bills of quantities) were prepared by Mohamed Bider for AMSY Group.

On Incense Road.
The building stands on the east side of Incense Road in AlJadidah, on the corner of a side street paved with the road’s urban carpet, just north of ATHR Gallery and across from the AlUla Music Hub — where the district’s visitors pass every evening.

The building today.
Surveyed in January 2025: a cream three-storey block with arched balconies on the side street, a stair up to the raised ground floor, and inside, worn stairs, stripped rooms and an unfinished top floor of bare block and slab.
Studies &
drawings.
The building taken apart and cut through, the proposed plan of each floor, the floor models, and the as-built survey it all started from. Select a drawing.
Materials
& colours.
A warm, calm palette for a building that never closes: lime-plaster walls, natural oak and dark walnut joinery, light stone floors and concealed warm light, with black track lights and metal. On the roof, timber pergolas and white fabric over cream render.
The roof terrace.
The bare roof becomes the team’s terrace: a timber pergola with white fabric shades and curtains, a lounge and a long dining table, a bar counter by the stair, planters along the parapet and the lattice screen of the stair tower.
The ground floor.
The working core of the hub, right off the street: the security control centre with its video wall, the server room, offices, a reception lounge, and corridors of walnut doors and plaster walls under a warm cove of light.
The offices.
On the first floor, the vice-president’s office with its meeting table and walnut cabinetry, an open workstation for the team, the ladies’ offices and a kitchen — one material language from floor to floor.
